I downloaded the software from the website, but when I plug in the ethernet nothing happens. Neither of the lights on the converter will turn on, and under my network preferences I do not see anything. Not sure what the problem is.

After downloading the driver and restarting my Macbook, the driver is not installed. I check the system report and the driver does not show up and the uninstall command within the .zip file says that the file does not exist. I installed the same driver a couple times and some different drivers from asix with the same result, even after restarting on each install.

Testet on Mojave right now, it works. The extension (driver for osx) need to be installed. I Downloaded the dmg from the Amazon product page. It contain a .command file for unisnstall the extension, and a .pkg file for install the extension. During the installation it ask for the authorization and you need to go in system preferences, security to approve it.

Update: A Windows 10 driver now exists for the USB2-E1000. However, it will not appear in the CD that comes with the adapter until the next lot of adapters is shipped. The updated driver can be downloaded from this link: Windows 10/8/8.1, 7, Vista, and XP drivers for USB2-E1000.

*Note In 2017, our USB3-HUB3ME was redesigned to include a Realtek RTL8153 chipset and drivers. Windows 10 should automatically configure these drivers when you plug the adapter in.) When you insert these adapters into a USB port, the drivers should automatically install with no need for an internet connection.

Amazonbasics usb3 adapter came so I went back and installed stable version of Owrt. Also since I am working on this downstairs, I wired up a line from Asus router upstairs down to Owrt router and switch so I would have wired connection.Well I was hoping I could do updates and install USB adapter drivers this way. I have modem>Asus router>switch>Owrt router. I have laptop connected to switch as well for Luci/ssh. I have no connection from laptop to Owrt router to do anything. So I started Ubuntu live usb on Owrt router and I do have a wired connection through the switch. I'm not sure what is going on again.

The amazonbasics adapter had many comments from people saying they had it working in Linux, some even mentioned the driver by name, which is why I mentioned it. Will still require a USB module. You can grab appropriate stable kmod-usb-* packages and copy over to new router for install to get USB ether up and running, then you can set up wan and system should drop in as new router.

@goblinX: As a quick check which Linux driver is needed for the USB network adapter, you can boot Ubuntu live on your router or any other PC. Type sudo -- dmesg -w , plug in the USB dongle, and look for the module name among the new lines of output that appear. This should give a hint to the kmod-usb-net-* package name in LEDE/OpenWrt.

if you are using a snapshot image from this afternoon and still can't do the kmod install, then drop back to stable and try to get the appropriate driver for your amazonbasics device using the uci magic for connecting to internet.

On the plus side, this even works with non-PC devices like the Nintendo Switch (if you want faster Ethernet downloads vs. Wi-Fi). On the minus side, getting it to work on a MacOS laptop required an extra driver, located here.

I bought a RealTech adapter off of amazon for my MacBook Pro. Over wifi in the house I was getting 450 Mbps. Once I connected the adapter, I am getting 900. But I have to run 45 foot ethernet cable from laptop to the modem. The real problem is that the adapter gets SCORCHING hot. Almost too hot to touch. Is this normal? someone suggested going into my MacBook preferences and turning off auto updates, because supposedly the adapter was continually checking for updates. Is this true?

I have same / similar problem with QGeeM's HC 1202 USB port. Worked reliably under Windows 10 for 2+ years; problem appeared on first restart after installing upgrade to Windows 11. Tried suggestions found online, include one with this issue. The hub's Ethernet port shows no LED activity. No driver updates found by Windows Updates.

i just had similar problem few days ago. in my case, the USB 3.0 TP-Link gigabit network adapter detected as an cd/dvd drive chen plugged in, and the device is dissapearing from the device manager. the USB to ethernet device is working fine before with windows 7 and 10.

i had found the problem was the wireguard vpn drivers crashed into the system networking drivers & registry. fresh re-install the OS and make sure the USB ethernet adapter work first, then installing the wireguard vpn drivers later. it works normally now.

After trying several things such as installing the latest drivers , disableing the hub , removing and re-stating the PC etc , etc. I finally restored all network adapter to factory settings, using the option in the ethernet connections settings page. 2ff7e9595c
